Duraloft Soft Wool Knops for Bedding

Soft wool knops are an exciting new concept in wool fill material.

These spherical clusters of pure New Zealand wool which, because of their superior bulk and resilience, are ideally suited for use in a wide range of products, particularly with the trend towards lightweight, comfortable easy –care bedding.

Developed by the Wool Research Organisation of New Zealand, soft wool knops are manufactured under licence for worldwide distribution.

• The Process : 33 to 37 micron wool, selected for its good colour and natural resilience, is formed into small, airy clusters of fibre using purpose built machinery. An anti-felting and softening treatment is applied, which gives the knops a soft handle and improves their performance without affecting wool’s natural comfort and insulating properties.



• Performance : The construction of the soft wool knop enhances the comfort properties of wool. The natural bulk and resilience of wool is increase which means that products will maintain their thickness and loft much longer. Comparative user trials which measured thickness loss in pillows confirm the high resilience of soft wool knop fill.



• Blow fill capability : The aerodynamic shape of soft knops, enhanced by their resin coating, ensures ease of flow and manoeuvrability, so that they can be blow-filled into covers, using the latest development in blow-fill technology.



• Care and cleaning : Soft knop products an be dry-cleaned in a moisture free system with slight loss of filling bulk. Alternatively, products can be machine-washed on “wool cycle”. Machine washing tends to increase bulk loss which is partially restored by tumble-drying.
